Dr. Bruce Baojun XU

Dr. Xu is a Chair Professor and Ph.D Supervisor in BNU-HKBU United International College,Hong Kong Baptist University United International College, UIC, a full English teaching college in China), Zhuhai Scholar Distinguished Professor, and Department Head of Life Sciences currently. Dr. Xu received Ph.D in Food Science from Chungnam National University, South Korea in 2005. He conducted postdoctoral research work in North Dakota State University (NDSU), Purdue University, and Gerald P. Murphy Cancer Foundation in U.S.A. during 2005-2009. He did short-term visiting research in NDSU in 2012, and University Georgia in 2014, and followed by visiting research during his sabbatical leave (7 months) in Pennsylvania State University in U.S.A. in 2016. Dr. Xu is serving as Associate Editor-in-Chief of Food Science and Human Wellness (SCI, IF 7.0, Q1), Associate Editor of Food Research International (SCI, IF 8.1, Q1), Associate Editor of Food Frontiers, Co-Editor of The Open Bioactive Compounds Journal, and Guest Editor for 9 special issues in Current Opinion in Food Science (SCI, IF 9.800, Q1), Antioxidants (SCI, IF 7.675, Q1), International Journal of Molecular Sciences (SCI, IF 6.208, Q1), Molecules (SCI, IF 4.927, Q2), Journal of Fungi (SCI, IF 5.816, Q1), and the editorial board member of around 10 international journals, including Food Chemistry (SCI, IF 8.8), Food Chemistry: X (SCI, IF 6.443). Dr. Xu is the first authors or corresponding authors of over 310 peer-reviewed scientific papers (over 280 SCI papers). The papers published have been widely cited with a total of 17237 citations (Google Scholar), h-index at 64, i10-index at 202 (Google Scholar) and have SCI impact factor at a total of 1184.76. Eight papers were selected as ESI highly cited papers, two papers were selected as ESI hot papers. Dr. Xu is the grant recipient of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province, Educational Commission of Guangdong Province, Science and Technology Planning Project of Guangdong Province, and internal fund of BNU-HKBU United International College. Dr. Xu was awarded as Zhuhai Scholar Distinguished Professor in 2015, the winner of inaugural President’s Award for Research of UIC in 2016, and the winner of President’s Award for Service of UIC in 2020. Dr. Xu was listed in the world's top 2% scientists (entered both lists of career-long impact and single year impact) by Stanford University in 2020, 2021, and 2022. He has been listed in the Best Scientist in the world in the field of Biology and Biochemistry at Research.com in 2023. He was elected as Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) in 2023.
