Dr. Malik Hussain

Over the last 25 years, I worked at world-renowned universities, research institutes, and food regulatory agencies in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and Pakistan. My professional expertise covers multiple disciplines that include novel foods, probiotics, food safety, food microbiology, food standards and regulation. I have vast experience in academic teaching, industrial research projects, technical and professional trainings, scientific activities and science communication. The highlights of my scientific contributions include 150+ published scholarly documents (50+ peer-reviewed publications), 50+ abstracts, 50+ presentations, 30+ international scientific events management and many technical trainings conducted for professionals. In academia, I have extensive experience in food science teaching and research supervision at world renowned universities (i.e. the University of Melbourne, Queensland University of Technology, University of Sydney, Australia and Lincoln University, New Zealand). As a food safety professional and expert, I worked at world leading agencies (Food Safety Unit, the Victorian Department of Health, Melbourne, Australia; NSW Food Authority, Sydney, Australia; Agriculture and Agri-Food, Canada) in food safety regulation, risk assessment, food policy and standards development. I am affiliated with several professional associations including leading the Asia-Pacific Institute of Food Professional (APIFP, a professional association) as an Executive Director. I am the founder and initiator of Asia-Pacific Probiotics workshops in the region. I am a strong advocate of collaborative work and developing network of professionals with multiple expertise and diverse backgrounds.
